House off in Benner Township

     

Sunday, September 5, 2010 0138 hours Centre County 911 alerted Fire Box 137 for a report of a working house fire at 1135 Valley View Road in Benner Township. Department Chief 5600 (Bruno) arrived on the scene and confirmed the working fire. E-111 arrived 1st followed by E-210. E-111's crew advanced a line into side alpha and found a heavy smoke condition. The main source of the fire was located and knocked down. Due to multiple renovations to the home over the years, crews found the fire had advance to the second division as well as the attic of the home. The home was vacant at the time of the fire and is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall's Office. Command placed the box in service at 0558 hours.
